The Federal Government has called on the people of Delta State to partner with the Federal University of Medical Health Science, Kwale in order to ensure it’s growth.
Minster of Education, Prof Tahir Mamman made the call at the inspection /official handing over of the University’s permanent site to the federal government by the Delta State Government in Kwale on Wednesday, August 14th
- The Minister who was represented by the Director for University Education in the Ministry, Mrs. Rachel Leya while expressing delight at the warm reception given to him and his entourage appealed to all Deltans to join hands in ensuring that the University reaches an enviable heights.
In his remark, Deputy Governor of Delta State Sir. Monday Onyeme, assured the Minister that the State Government would partner fully with the University to ensure a smooth take -off as well as other areas it would need her assistance.
Represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff in the Deputy Governor’s Office, Barr. Ifeanyi Osakwe, Sir. Onyeme commended the federal government for citing the University in Kwale and appealed to all Deltans to work together to ensure a smooth take -off as no meaningful development can take place where there is bitterness and acrimony.
Speaking also representative of Delta State Ministry for Higher Education, Madam Bridget Odobor said the ministry is working together with the Delta Ministry of Lands and Survey to ensure proper documentation of the permanent site of the University in line with the National Universities Commission (NUC) guideline.
President -General of Ndokwa Neku Union (NNU), General Mike Ndubuisi expressed delight at the citing of the University in Ndokwa nation,
General Ndubuisi thanked the federal government for making it possible for Ndokwa nation to have a Federal University and equally thanked all who donated lands to ensure a smooth take -off of the University.
Also speaking, Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Abel Onunu promised to work effectively for the development of the institution
Earlier, Chairman of Ndokwa -West Local Government Hon.Dr. Goddey Obi-Nzete had welcomed the entourage to Ndokwa -West Local Government Council and prayed that God would enable them to execute the project.
Dignitaries present include Directors in the Federal Ministry of Education, Members of the National Assembly, Directors from the Delta State Ministry of Higher Education , Secretary to Ndokwa East Local Government amongst other.
The entourage inspected the permanent site of the University, the temporary site for it’s initial take -off as well as the Central Hospital, Kwale, which. would be used by the University as it’s teaching Hospital.
