First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu Commissions Digital Learning Centre in Delta State

In a major stride towards advancing digital education and empowering the next generation of learners, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu (CON), today, 24th October, 2025, virtually commissioned a Digital Learning Centre in Delta State. The facility, established through a partnership between the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), was officially handed over to the Delta State Government.

The symbolic handover marks yet another significant milestone in the First Lady’s Renewed Hope vision — a national intervention aimed at improving access to digital education, bridging the technological gap among youths, and preparing students for a competitive future in the digital economy.

Receiving the facility on behalf of the Delta State Government, Her Excellency, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, Wife of the Governor of Delta State, expressed deep appreciation to Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her commitment to Youth development through technology.

Deaconess Oborevwori, who was ably represented by Dr. Josephine Emu, wife of the Secretary to the State Government, and Chief Smart Ufoh, Commissioner for Technical Education, noted that the project aligns perfectly with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, which emphasizes Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security.

According to her, “The establishment of this Digital Learning Centre is a great addition to our collective effort in driving education through innovation and technology. It will not only empower our students with critical ICT skills but also strengthen our capacity to build a digitally competent workforce for the future.”Chief Smart Ufoh, while commending the Renewed Hope Initiative and NITDA for the partnership, highlighted that the new centre will serve as a hub for digital literacy, ICT training, and research for students and young professionals across the state. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s readiness to ensure effective use, maintenance, and sustainability of the facility.

Dr. Josephine Emu, in her goodwill message, described the initiative as timely and transformative, noting that it will complement the State Government’s ongoing efforts to modernize education through the integration of technology and digital tools. She stated, “This centre will go a long way in enhancing e-learning, computer literacy, and skill acquisition among students. It will help our young people compete favorably with their peers globally.”

The Digital Learning Centre features modern computer systems, internet connectivity, multimedia equipment, and digital learning resources designed to foster creativity, collaboration, and technical competence among learners. It is part of the First Lady’s broader national plan to establish similar centres across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), ensuring that no child is left behind in the nation’s digital transformation journey.

Senator Tinubu, through the Renewed Hope Initiative, continues to demonstrate her unwavering passion for education, empowerment, and nation-building. Her administration’s focus on education as a cornerstone of sustainable development reflects a deep understanding that digital literacy is the currency of the modern world.

The commissioning of the Digital Learning Centre in Delta State stands as a beacon of renewed hope and opportunity — a bridge between traditional learning and the emerging digital future.

The Delta State Government reaffirmed its readiness to collaborate with Federal Agencies and Development Partners to deepen ICT education and promote innovation across all levels of learning.

The Wife of the Governor, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, once again extended heartfelt appreciation to the First Lady, pledging that the facility would be put to maximum use for the benefit of students and the advancement of the state’s education sector.

As the world continues to evolve rapidly through technology, the Delta State Government’s commitment to the Renewed Hope vision and its alignment with the MORE Agenda signify a forward-thinking approach to governance — one that places education and digital empowerment at the heart of sustainable development.

The handover ceremony not only celebrated a new chapter in Delta State’s educational journey but also symbolized the power of partnership between the Federal and State Governments in driving meaningful change for Nigeria’s youth.
